The Amuri Irrigation Company Limited (AIC) currently irrigates 28,000 hectares of land within the Waiau and Hurunui catchments. The original irrigation schemes (Waiau, Balmoral and Waiareka) all fall within the Amuri Basin and are operated by AIC.
